Memoirs of Margaret Mackie

Is There a Difference Between Thinking, Feeling and Knowing?
Memoirs of Margaret Mackie

This memoir is a fascinating and heartfelt account of the life of Miss Margaret Mackie OAM, daughter of the 'giant of education,' Professor Alexander Mackie.

Born in Sydney in 1914, Margaret Mackie studied at home, then Abbotsleigh, then Sydney University under the controversial Professor of Philosophy; John Anderson and then went on to Oxford University. From there she embarked on a glorious teaching career in State School Education in NSW, through to teaching teachers at the Armidale Teacher's College in the 1950s. Miss Mackie turns 92 in 2006 and continues to teach children Philosophy.

The memoir consists primarily of conversations between Miss Mackie and the editor Catherine Ovenden. Through her teaching, Miss Mackie has inspired many young people to believe in themselves and pursue their own truth. What greater gift is there?

This book covers many topics including Australian History, Women's Studies, Education, Philosophy and Literature.
